Extended Mounting Zones for Greater Installation Flexibility

Extended Mounting Zones for Greater Installation Flexibility

Greater Installation Flexibility for High-Wind Solar Projects

At TCL SunPower, we work closely with installers, distributors and engineering partners to ensure our products meet the real-world requirements of the Australian and New Zealand markets.

One of the most common requests we've received has been greater installation flexibility for projects in high-wind regions and commercial rooftop applications. In response, our engineering teams have completed extensive mechanical load testing and validation on selected module series.

We're pleased to announce the release of new technical installation notes that provide expanded clamping zones and approved multi-rail mounting configurations for selected TCL SunPower modules, with additional models currently undergoing testing and approval.

What This Means for Installers

The new installation guidance gives installers and designers more freedom when planning systems in challenging environments, including:

  • High-wind and cyclone-prone regions
  • C&I rooftop installations
  • Projects requiring structural engineering approval
  • Installations with unique roof layouts or rail spacing requirements

By expanding the approved mounting zones, TCL SunPower modules can now accommodate a wider range of installation scenarios while maintaining compliance with manufacturer’s requirements.

Key Improvements

Expanded Clamping Zones

Selected modules from TCL SunPower now support extended mounting and clamping zones, providing installers and design engineers with greater flexibility in rail positioning and system design. The expanded mounting range enables a more flexible installation approach for projects in high-wind areas and helps reduce site-specific constraints across residential and C&I rooftops.

Approved Multi-Rail Configurations

New technical guidance includes validated mounting options for:

  • Standard 2-rail installations
  • 3-rail configurations
  • 4-rail configurations for projects requiring additional structural support

These installation methods are commonly specifiedfor C&I rooftops and projects exposed to higher wind loads.

Benefits for Our Partners

  • Greater design flexibility for residential and C&I projects
  • Improved compatibility with structural engineering requirements
  • Greater confidence in high-wind applications
  • Increased confidence when designing challenging roof layouts
  • More installation options without compromising warranty compliance

Avaliable Now

Technical installation notes are now available forthe following module series and include approved clamping zone locations, multi-railmounting configurations and mechanical load ratings:

  • SunPower Performance 8 (HSM-HHK-NM475)
  • SunPower MAX (HSM-BE54-HD490~505)

Testing of additional TCL SunPower module models is already underway, with further approvals expected in the coming months.
